Are you being scammed?

It can be hard to know when to trust someone. A business partner, an employee, an internet relationship, you name it. How do you know if someone’s taking advantage of you? If you have any doubts about someone, it pays to know. If you don’t find out, it may end up costing you a whole lot more than it should’ve! Here’s how you can protect yourself!

Denial – A costly mistake
When you have doubts about someone’s trustworthiness, you don’t immediately jump onto the idea that you should investigate them, but there’s no use being in denial. If it’s more than a passing thought, such as numbers don’t add up in your business, things they say don’t check out or you’ve had a nagging gut reaction for a while, then you need to know the truth. It may feel better to just stick your head in the sand, but in the end it definitely pays to investigate the issue, and if you are being scammed, the earlier you find out, the less it will cost you! An investigator can save you a lot of money with a few simple checks or a short surveillance.

It could be anything
You might be scammed by a client who won’t pay. Maybe they have a history of not paying? An employee could be claiming workcover for an injury that they don’t have at all, or are greatly exaggerating. You could be paying for genuine but receiving fake or stolen goods. You could have a supplier charging you for something you shouldn’t be paying for, a business partner stealing from the business or staff that sabotage the business when you’re not around. An investigator would be able to find all this out – and more! – with a bit of surveillance and some background checks.

Protect yourself and prevent it altogether
By investigating shady scenarios, you can both catch scammers to stop them in their tracks and prevent scams from hitting you in the first place. If you catch someone early with surveillance proof you can step in early and minimise the damage to you and your business. If you do the due diligence and do full background checks on new employees and investigate new business partners and suppliers you can stop yourself getting into a shady deal in the first place.
